When I first became a homeowner I quickly realized I would have to get creative If I wanted both affordability and the aesthetic. For me Design Alcove was born out of necessity. I remember the feeling I had when I first recreated the look I fell in love with from the high-end store I could never afford. I was in my own slice of heaven.
One of my passions is helping people achieve the look for less. Whether it’s in fashion or Interior design. I want people to love the space they are in.
The year my daughter was born I became a stay at home mom and that’s when Design Alcove went from passion to business.

Hi my name is Lorien. From an early age I took a liking to being creative and being able to make something out of nothing. From working with clay to nature photography, I was constantly enticed by the process of creation.
I started to fall in love with interior decorating and design in college where I learned the importance of creating a calming space that truly was an escape from a busy world. My college bedroom was a frequent hangout space. I created a cozy yet still light and airy place where I could experience respite from the outside world.

At the same time I was working on my major in creative advertising where I functioned primarily as a creative copywriter. It was here that I learned the importance of set design and decorating spaces to create a mood. Spaces became just as much a character that was telling a visual story and I was the storyteller.
